Pencil and Acrylic markers on paper
Brian Maxwell is an artist who draws, paints and sculpts. Still in his artistic infancy, untrained and ever curious, Brian picked up a paint brush in August 2019 after observing the working process of Anthony Lister. En plein air, Brian tries to capture distinct moments, a half eaten Spanish tortilla or graffiti scribbled on a park bench, with the goal of illuminating the mundane simplicities that make life wonderful. In the studio, Brian tries to memorialize what is meaningful or emotional to him, recreating a flower painting by a deceased friend or painting his own severed head falling from a guillotine, with the goal of better understanding his and every person's mortality.
